Foundation and Leadership

Eco-Needs Foundation was founded by Dr. Priyanand Agale, whose vision, leadership, and continuous guidance have shaped the foundation’s philosophy, mission, and field-based initiatives. The major programs, campaigns, conferences, rural development models, water conservation initiatives, educational projects, social transformation programs, and peace-building activities of the foundation have been initiated, led, and guided under his leadership. His approach emphasizes that environmental conservation must go hand in hand with human development, social harmony, education, water security, mental wellbeing, and the happiness of all living beings.

The Eco-Revolution Vision

Eco-Revolution is a comprehensive movement for all-round ecological development. It includes economic, social, educational, cultural, health, technological, and rural development, along with the conservation of water and other natural resources. Above all, it promotes the holistic development of ecology for the happiness and well-being of all living beings.

In the vision of Eco-Needs Foundation, environmental conservation is not limited only to planting saplings or creating wildlife sanctuaries. These are important parts of environmental protection, but the foundation believes that true conservation must be connected with sustainable human development, responsible use of natural resources, social awareness, inner peace, and community participation. If all living beings are to live happily and sustainably, Eco-Revolution is the need of the hour.

Public Action and Community Participation

Under the guidance of Dr. Priyanand Agale, Eco-Needs Foundation works to create mass awareness about environmental issues and to inspire continuous action towards sustainable development. The foundation organizes seminars, public campaigns, mass environmental programs, training sessions, conferences, field interventions, and community-based initiatives. These activities involve people from all walks of life and provide a platform for sharing knowledge, discussing global environmental challenges, and finding practical solutions beyond the boundaries of nations, states, regions, religions, languages, and communities.

The foundation believes that people’s aspirations must be connected with ecological responsibility. Therefore, its campaigns focus not only on environmental protection but also on holistic human development. For this purpose, Eco-Needs Foundation has developed various specialized cells such as the Rural Development Cell, Women Cell, Legal Cell, Health Cell, Technical Cell, Social and Cultural Cell, and other functional groups. These cells are guided by experts and members with strong academic, professional, and field experience in their respective areas.

Recognition and Global Engagement

The work of Eco-Needs Foundation has been appreciated through the Water Digest Water Award 2010–11, supported by UNESCO. The foundation deeply understands the importance of river conservation for ecological balance. With this understanding, and under the leadership of Dr. Priyanand Agale, it has taken important initiatives for framing river policy through national and international dialogue.

To spread the Eco-Revolution movement globally, the foundation developed ECO FACE, recognized as the world’s first environmental social networking site dedicated to environmental awareness and action. Through this platform and its field-based initiatives, the foundation especially focuses on children and youth so that future generations become eco-conscious, responsible, and action-oriented.

Eco-Revolution is the beginning of a new path towards complete ecological reform for the “Happiness of All Living Beings.” To take this movement to every segment of global society, Eco-Needs Foundation, under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Priyanand Agale, has organized several national and international conferences.

The Eco-Revolution 2011 International Conference, held in Aurangabad, India, was the first conference of its kind that emphasized the need for formulation of an International River Policy. Inspired by this conference, the Eco-Revolution 2012 International Conference was organized in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the support of Sri Lankan ministries and social organizations. This conference concluded with the Colombo Declaration, which highlighted the need for involvement of religion, spirituality, and spiritual leaders in mobilizing people for the cause of environmental conservation.

Further, the Eco-Revolution 2013 International Conference on Environment and Humanities was organized in Nepal in association with government bodies and educational institutions. This conference addressed the impact of climate change on high-altitude regions. On this occasion, Eco-Needs Foundation, along with the Nepal Engineers’ Association, signed an MoU for starting the International Journal for Technology, Science and Humanity, with the objective of involving researchers, scientists, academicians, and thinkers in spreading the Eco-Revolution movement.

Water Security and the Right to Water

One of the foundation’s landmark initiatives is India’s Center for Water Literacy at SRPF-14, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. This center has been established to strengthen public understanding of water rights, water governance, water conservation, responsible use of water, and the importance of water security for every citizen. It aims to create awareness that water is not only a natural resource but also a basic human right and a foundation for sustainable development.

Eco-Needs Foundation also celebrates World Right to Water Day every year on 20th March. Through this initiative, the foundation advocates that every citizen must receive safe and quality water in adequate quantity through proper legislation, accountable governance, and active community participation.

Rural Development and Smart Villages

In the field of rural transformation, Eco-Needs Foundation developed India’s first Smart Village, Dhanora, located in Dholpur district of Rajasthan. The Smart Village Dhanora project became a model of sustainable rural development by integrating sanitation, water conservation, infrastructure improvement, community participation, education, livelihood support, environmental protection, and village-level empowerment. This project was awarded by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India under the Model Village category, recognizing its contribution as an inspiring model for rural development.

Eco-Needs Foundation is actively engaged in rural development through its Smart Village Project in Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Nagaland. These initiatives have been developed and guided under the leadership of Dr. Priyanand Agale, with a focus on integrating water conservation, sanitation, education, digital access, livelihood support, community participation, environmental protection, and village-level institution building. The Smart Village approach reflects the foundation’s belief that sustainable rural transformation can be achieved only when environmental protection and human development move together.

Digital Libraries and Education

In the field of education and community development, Eco-Needs Foundation has implemented the Dholpur Digital Community Library Project in Rajasthan. Under this initiative, 28 Digital Community Libraries have been developed with the support of SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited, in collaboration with Zilla Parishad Dholpur and Panchayati Raj Vibhag, Dholpur. These libraries provide rural students, youth, and community members with access to digital learning, books, educational resources, competitive exam preparation support, technology, and a positive study environment.

In addition to this, the foundation is working on 50 Digital SamvidhanGhar Libraries with the support of IIFCL. These libraries aim to strengthen constitutional awareness, educational access, digital learning, civic understanding, social responsibility, and community knowledge systems in rural areas.

The foundation has also undertaken major initiatives such as Save River Save Nation, Save Tree Grow Tree, Aurangabad Water Resources Conservation Mission, and Soch Badlo Gaon Badlo Abhiyan. These initiatives, led and guided by Dr. Priyanand Agale, focus on conserving rivers, lakes, historical water systems, trees, natural resources, and rural ecosystems while encouraging community-led development and environmental responsibility.

Eco-Needs Foundation also celebrates National Free Education Day every year on 3rd January, with the demand for free education from KG to PhD for every learner. To support this vision, the foundation has initiated Utthan Centers and E-learning portals, especially for children, students, and youth from underserved communities. These initiatives aim to expand equitable access to education and create opportunities for every child and learner to grow with dignity.

Peace Army and Mental Wellbeing

Eco-Needs Foundation believes that mental wellbeing is essential for every human being and for the creation of a peaceful society. With this understanding, the foundation has started the Peace Army Project to promote mental wellbeing, peace, harmony, compassion, social unity, and inner transformation through meditation, value-based teachings, and community engagement. This initiative has also been conceptualized and guided under the leadership of Dr. Priyanand Agale.

As part of this mission, Eco-Needs Foundation has taken the initiative to establish and encourage meditation groups among people from diverse social backgrounds. These meditation groups are intended to create a common platform where individuals can come together beyond the barriers of caste, religion, language, state, region, and community. Through meditation, dialogue, shared values, compassion, and inner transformation, the foundation seeks to reduce social divisions, strengthen mutual understanding, and develop a spirit of brotherhood and respect among people.

The initiative is based on the belief that lasting peace in society must begin with peace within the individual. When people learn to calm the mind, understand one another, overcome prejudice, and recognize their shared humanity, many artificial barriers that divide society can gradually be reduced. Through these meditation groups, Eco-Needs Foundation therefore seeks to promote social harmony, emotional wellbeing, peaceful coexistence, unity in diversity, and collective happiness in society.

Eco-Needs Foundation believes that the teachings of Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavira provide an important path for controlling pollution, reducing greed, promoting compassion, and building harmony between human beings and nature. Their teachings guide humanity towards non-violence, simplicity, self-discipline, meditation, compassion, equality, peaceful coexistence, and respect for all forms of life.

Our Continuing Mission

Under the visionary leadership of its Founder, Dr. Priyanand Agale, Eco-Needs Foundation continues to move ahead with missionary zeal and strong field-based action. His leadership has been central to shaping the Eco-Revolution movement and guiding the foundation’s initiatives in environmental conservation, water security, rural development, free education, digital empowerment, social transformation, mental wellbeing, peace, harmony, and community development.

Through Eco-Revolution, Eco-Needs Foundation remains committed to building an eco-conscious, educated, self-reliant, mentally peaceful, compassionate, inclusive, just, harmonious, and sustainable society.
